You can shed tears that he is gone
Or you can smile because he has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
Or you can do what he would want; smile, open your eyes, love again

Douglas, Douglas, our loving Douglas,
Oh babe, where do I begin?
Unfortunately you've left this place,
God wanted you with him.
Look down on us from the skies above,
And we'll look up to you,
Still sharing our strong bond of love,
We'll miss you through and through.
Many happy times when you were around,
Chatting and laughing away,
Never a dull moment could be found,
Even on a rainy day.
I'll see you soon dear loving brother,
Leave space beside you for me,
Love you always and forever,
  Goodbye, Adieu, Arrivederci...

Remember (Sonnet by Christina Rossetti)
Remember me when I have gone far away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me ;you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember,do not grieve.
For if the darkness and corruption leave
vestige of the thoughts I once had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Dear Douglas,
gentle-heart
life enthusiast
You have passed through like a comet,
leaving behind love, gratitude, regrets.
May the star dust
be gentle on you.
Good-bye,
PAOLA
I want add just something: Paola herself - who does not Know any English- composed this short poem with the help of a dictionary and all the affection she felt for Douggie.

God looked around his Garden and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face.
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest.
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
